How can I apply a variable discount where I manually enter the discount amount on the sales order? CC: @campbell.hatchard ---

In the base product the discount selection is controlled. Only discount codes that are pre-defined can be chosen. We do not allow the direct entry of discount amounts. We have come across the ad-hoc use case in the past and we have handled it with a extension/customization. The use case we encountered is the user can enter a discount amount or a percentage **at the line level** and the one they entered will calculate the other. The discount amount is **not recorded as a separate line item** in the General Ledger (the discount amount directly reduced Revenue). Lastly, this customer **did not have a combination** of ad-hoc and controlled use cases. ---

Can we get the direct entry of a variable discount type added as an enhancement? We want our users to be able to configure a variable discount type, and upon selection of the discount, the user can override the amount. ---

I will add an enhancement to allow a user to configure a discount as “overrideable”. When such a discount code is chosen on a Sales Order, we will then allow the editing of the discount amount.
