Is there a difference between instantiating a variable and clearing it versus passing through an empty constant on an insert?

I have been informed that passing an empty constant on an insert is different than instantiating a variable and clearing it, is that the case? Is there a best practice if we want a particular field to be empty?

No, this is not the case. A cleared variable and an empty constant are the same.

This wasn’t always true; we used to have some bugs where the two were treated differently. If you see anywhere that this distinction matters, please file a bug with support.
