We are currently in the process of integrating AI into our development flow and had a few questions about the Nextworld platform and its current capabilities.
To connect an external MCP Client to Nextworld’s platform, would we have to switch to a subscription package that includes AI?
What actions does Nextworld’s platform currently allow external agents to perform in the system?
Broadly speaking, would an external MCP Client be able to trigger metadata generation/updates within the platform?
This would include generating new or updating existing components that go into building an application, such as Data Items, Tables, Applications, Logic Blocks, Workflow, etc. just to name a few.
What options do we have to accomplish the above?
Please let me know if the above does not make sense and I can elaborate.
I’ll let someone else chime in on the subscription package question.
To answer your second question though, our MCP server is meant to be used for interacting with businessdata on the platform, not metadata. The Nextworld UI is the only location that metadata objects should be created, as we have custom builders for various types (Logic Blocks, Applications, Workflow, etc) and the data model/logic backing various metadata types is complex enough that it should not be interacted with via integrations.
If you’re looking for ways to develop metadata objects on the platform agentically, I’d point you to Project Builder, where you can describe metadata objects you’d like to create to Ed via the chat and he will build them for you.
You do not need the Artificial Intelligence solution activated to connect any nextworld MCP Servers to an external MCP Client. Our MCP Bundle and MCP functionality is available within the platform default solution.
Could you please tell me more about Code Mode in Nextworld’s implementation of MCP? That is, how does Code Mode fit in the context of our original question?
