Is there a way to modify multiple metadata objects at once? Prior to developer studio, selecting multiple objects to edit and using the “save and next” feature was very helpful for maintenance on things like changing modules and security groups. However that functionality doesn’t seem to be supported in studio and editing fields like that one record at a time is very tedious. Are there any other places in the platform to perform bulk updates like that or would this need to be entered as an idea?
Business applications all continue to support the multi-record edit mode and side-by-side which can help with making the same or similar change to lots of business records.
However the use case for that with metadata records seems more limited and the changes brought about by Studio got rid of the save and next capability for editing metadata.
I don’t know if I can think of a great option for doing these bulk updates to metadata records at this point - logic blocks or data transforms as far as I know aren’t intendend for making metadata modifications - would be curious what others think.
Yes my question is specifically for metadata records, I’d love to have a view that supports multi-record edit like other places in the system.
Thanks for raising this. When in Developer Studio, the expected behavior when selecting multiple records and clicking Edit is that each record should open in its own tab. We have this tracked on our side and are working to get it resolved.
As for a multi-record editing experience for metadata objects in Developer Studio like you described, there isn’t anything currently being tracked - though that could certainly change in the future.
Awesome thanks for the info Jake. I thought I remembered at some point that multi-record edit within studio opened all records. Even that will be a huge timesaver
The fix for this is scheduled to available in the release pipeline when 25.2.07 promotes there in late March.
