How do I see the error in an event when it has hit the maximum retry count?

I have a failed event and the error I see when stepping into the failed event says the maximum retry count was hit. How do I see what was the failure in logic and that specific error from event status inquiry or event target delivery status inquiry?

In Event Status Inquiry, if its status is Error Routing To Targets, open the record and review the Event Routing Error. If there’s a highly technical error called out there, I would contact a sys admin or create a ticket.

In Event Target Delivery Status Inquiry, if its status is Error, open the record and look at the Errors(s) field on the Error(s) page. When I open an Event Target Delivery record that has hit maximum retry, I see that page - I’m wondering if you possibly do not? Buried within that Error(s) field is likely something about the underlying cause of the issue which can hopefully point you in the right direction. If it doesn’t, I would then contact a sys admin or create a ticket.

I reran the event to see if it was a time-sensitive issue. Is there ways to see the error when I am no longer in an error state?

The error I do see on other similar events is not very telling which is why I was hoping there was another place to see more specific errors. Looks like there is not and this is the entirety of the error. I’ll write a ticket. @ian.p

As far as I know, it is not possible to see previous errors on Event Target Deliveries that have since succeeded. In the past there was a similar limitation on Workflow Queued Auto Transitions if I recall correctly, and for that feature a log of errors was implemented. Sounds like you might want something similar for the Event Status and Event Target Delivery apps.

Should I write an enhancement request? Is that done through tickets?

I took a look and an idea actually already exists in the idea backlog for this, I’ve added a comment to it with a link back to this discussion.
