Open composite directly with “Open Side by Side” detail view?

Hi all,

In a composite displaying a header/detail app I’m using, the detail row action “Open Side by Side” (pause icon) to open a detail record in a right-hand panel.

Is there a way to:

  • open the header/detail app in the composite directly in this side-by-side mode, with a detail record already loaded in the right panel, without the user clicking the row action first
    and/or

  • open the header/detail app in the composite directly in this side-by-side mode, with a newyet to be saved detail record already loaded in the right panel, if no detail records exist yet?

If possible I’m looking for how to achieve this.

There is not a way right now to have the side by side open automatically.

Is this something that’s on the roadmap, or should I submit an enhancement request for it? From a UX perspective, being able to open a header/detail composite directly with the side-by-side detail view (for the first or a specific line) would really reduce the number of clicks and streamline common user tasks.

I agree that something like this could really benefit the development experience here. Please feel free to enter an enhancement request for it. There are not any enhancement requests that currently track this.
