Unidentified Cash Receipt

How do I apply a cash receipt if I don’t know who the payor is?

@teresa.l - You will first need to define an unidentified payor in Receivables Settings for your company or as a global setting, this will be in the ‘Cash Receipts Settings’ section of Receivables Settings. Ensure whatever customer you use as your unidentified payor has a Customer Function = ‘Unidentified Payor’ in the customer record.

Next you will want to create a cash receipt with the unidentified payor you specified in the receivables settings, then populate all other required header fields you need, ie. company, bank account, amount etc. At this point you will not be able to add any invoices to apply to on the cash receipt. Post the receipt and GLs will be written and you’ll be at a ‘Posted Unidentified’ workflow status. At this point the receipt will be left until the payor is identified.

Once you’ve identified the payor, update the payor field with that customer and add the invoice(s) in question to the receipt detail and move your workflow to ‘Assign Payor’ then save. This will post GLs and you’re done applying.
