When I go to the GL, how can I search for the entries I made when I generated an invoice?
From the General Ledger application, filter the Transaction Type to be Customer Invoice. Then, perform a wildcard search using an asterisk and the Invoice Number in the filter for “Source Transaction” field. Example; *34
There are a couple of other ways to find the entries.
-
In the General Ledger application, you can enter your invoice number in the transaction number column field to filter for just the transactions related to the invoice.
-
You can open the invoice in the Customer Invoices application and use the View GL form action at the top left on the screen to see the transactions related to the invoice.
Some additional information on the title topic. The above definitely covers the how to search for them pretty well.
The journal entries will depend on your specific invoice transaction details. There are many different types. However, some examples are
-
Revenue: The income earned from the sale of goods or services.
-
Accounts Receivable: The amount owed by the customer.
-
Sales Tax Payable: If applicable, the sales tax collected from the customer.
-
Cost of Goods Sold (COGS): The cost associated with the goods or services sold.
-
Inventory: Adjusts the inventory levels to reflect the goods sold.
These entries ensure that the financial statements accurately reflect the sale transaction and its impact on the company’s financial position.
Not all will be written in every case so use the search options listed by Michael and Teresa to see which were written for your document
