How would I solve this without creating a separate dashboard/app?
Yes and no.
- You can use Restricted Fields profiles to hide or disable the data within a column from particular functional roles
- It is not possible to use the Hide or Disable logic actions on a per-role basis. These actions are all-or-nothing
- When it comes to dashboard/app usage:
-
- If you need to hide specific columns from some users, you may need to create two separate dashboards/apps and secure them separately. This prevents the need for restricted fields profiles and enables you to grant access to different security groups entirely.
-
- If you are okay with certain columns being empty or disabled for some users, secure those columns with a Restricted Field Profile on a single dashboard/app and grant that profile to some Functional Roles (via Permissions and Duty Roles) but not others. This will enable some users to see and edit those columns while forcing those without permission to see empty + disabled values. Those without permission will still see the column title and help text.
- If none of the above is helpful or applicable in your case, we can discuss some other features that are available, specifically Application Layouts and security based on Application Settings.
