Shared Bill of Materials (BOM)

What does it mean to have a shared BOM?

A shared BOM allows a Bill of Material to be shared with multiple org units or with multiple production processes within the same org unit.

  • Sharing a BOM with multiple org units

    • The organization where the bill of material is defined is the owner of the bill of material. Other organizations can be linked to the shared Bill of Material by defining a Product Definition that links to the shared Bill of Material. A shared bill can be shared w/ other organizations to produce the same product of the same production quantity using the same manufacturing mode. This means that the the Item, Process, Variant, Type, Production Quantity, and Production UOM will be the same. Only the Organizational Unit can be different.
  • Sharing a BOM with multiple production processes

    • A bill of material that is identified as a shared BOM can be associated to one or more routings by associating the BOM to the Routing in the Product Definitions application.
