How can I set up and manage production routings? Along with Routing setup what other applications are needed to fully define my routings?

Before you can create your routing you have to have the following setup:

  • Manufacturing Plant (Inventory Org Unit)
  • Work Center, Work Areas, and Work Groups
  • Define Assemblies and Sub-Assemblies
  • Item Master and Item Org Master
  • Optionally, define revision control
  • Definition Types
  • Product Data Management Settings

After creation of your routing, you can manage your production routing with revision control. To set this up, follow these steps:

  1. Set Up Revision Control:

- Define a Revision Level Schema during the setup of the Definition Type.

- Create and configure Revision Levels that will be used for your routings.

  1. Create or Update Routings with Revisions:

- When defining a routing, associate it with a specific Revision Level.

- Use the Effective From* and *Effective Through dates to manage the validity of the routing for a particular revision.

- Ensure that the appropriate Definition Type is selected, as this ties the routing to the revision schema.

  1. Track and Manage Changes:

- If a change is needed, create a new routing revision rather than modifying the existing one. This ensures historical data is preserved.

- Update the new revision with any changes to operations, work centers, or other routing details.
