Regarding the Split and Fulfil feature that is documented in release note RN-24.2-[Sales Management]-5427, this comment is made on the release note: Lines split from the same original SO detail will merge if they share the same: Item, Unit of Measure, Ship To, Ship To Address, Line Type, Org Unit, Requested Date
Questions:
If a merge happens due to the original line being split multiple times and all these fields are a match, could the split-off SO detail end up being associated with multiple POs? My expectation is the answer is yes, but just want to confirm
Do these merges happen automatically or does the user get a confirmation dialog so that they can abort if they so choose?
The only situation where a PO can be associated with the split line in the base product is if the split line has a Dropship line type. In this situation, as long as the PO created from the first split dropship line is at NEW, then any additional quantity split will go into that first split dropship line and the PO quantity will be updated accordingly. If the PO is at OPEN however, the SO detail has moved to PO sent, so any additional quantity split will go into a new dropship line.
These merges happen automatically and there is no dialog or messaging. Note that this type of merging also happens upon hard commitment (sending a SO detail for picking), pick short, ship short etc.
