I migrated an Endpoint Definition from one environment to another using Promotion Manager. I noticed that the URL and the Endpoint Logging = True were not included in the migration. Is that expected?
The replacing of the Endpoint URL on delivery with <INSERT URL HERE> is a long standing behavior. I’m not able to locate documentation for it. However rationale I believe relates to an expectation that target URLs in endpoint definitions would always be customer specific. There is a backlog idea requesting this behavior be relaxed and more nuanced for situations where that assumption is not applicable.
The clearing of Enable Logging when an endpoint is shipped was documented in release note RN-25.2.03-[Nextbot]-5351
Re: logging - That release note is accurate about what is happening, but pretty light on why. It is expensive to keep running endpoint logging all the time for a high volume endpoint. It was designed for triaging when things aren’t working. Not for keeping on all the time. Don’t do it, please. Leaving it enabled has broken tenant data refresh, overloaded data purge, and other ugly things.
@kendra.b for my use case I am trying to figure out why an endpoint is not working in one environment versus the testing environment. Is the suggestion to customize the endpoint temporarily to see errors in endpoint logging and then delete that customization?
Yes. Triage/diagnosis is exactly why that flag exists. It does little harm to leave the customization once you work out the issue, but I would delete it once resolved.
