Kits where Backorders Allowed = False

If a kit is set up with Backorders Allowed = False, does that mean if any components are only partially available or unavailable, the kit cannot be ordered for the requested quantity?

The kit should behave as a regular item and split into available and unavailable amounts upon fulfillment request. The available moving forward, depending on which step in the fulfillment you are at, and the unavailable returning to Revise status. There are a couple gates where the full amount must be available to proceed.

When submitting for Pick from the SO. All quantities would need to be available to move forward. However, the line will still split on the attempt. Available quantities remaining at Open. Unavailable moving to Revise. Similarly, if during pick the available quantity is not available. You will be able to complete the Pick but you will not be able to complete/process a Shipment while there are unfulfilled quantities associated to the split line on the Sales Order. This includes attempts to Ship Short.

Any split would be by the least whole amount of quantity per kit required for a Kit’s parent item.

Hi Ian. We do not currently support kits with Backorders Allowed = False.
